The Rebrand of Gut Instinct

By Natalie McCarty

It’s no secret, especially if you’ve been following our recent updates on social media — Gut Instinct has undergone a significant rebrand. As we transition from our origins in the blog space to a dynamic digital media outlet, I believe it’s crucial to initiate a proper reintroduction.

Hello, and welcome (again) to Gut Instinct. Founded with the intention of fostering authentic human conversations, we analyze how media influences society and how societal dynamics shape the media.

In my roles as the founder, executive writer, and creative director of Gut Instinct, the journey of shaping this company and crafting its brand image from scratch into something that now resonates with a vast audience has been an incredibly exhilarating experience. I am sincerely grateful for the unwavering support of my teammate and partner of the company, Stella Violet, whose contributions have played a pivotal role in our collective success.

With this rebrand, I knew it was crucial to present an image that was in the spirit of Gut Instinct. Our campaign shoot marked a transformative shift in our style, bidding farewell to the cozy Carrie Bradshaw-at-home vibe. Embracing the essence of Sex and the City, we’re now the Carrie strutting through the city streets in killer heels and impeccable outfits, radiating confidence and moneyed allure. As we transition from a blog to a dynamic digital media outlet, each writer embodies the spirit of a jack of all trades — blending media, fashion, and diverse opinions.

Collaborating with jewelry designer Seth Eldridge and musician-producer Adonis J. Gibson proved to be a transformative experience. Seth showcased his talents not only as a designer but also as a skilled stylist, while Adonis elevated the entire shoot with his prowess as a photographer and editor. Together, their combined skills took the shoot to a new level of creativity and sophistication.

In my latest article, “How to Make Strategic Partnerships,” I express gratitude for our shared passion for the brand. I highlight how the collaboration between the three of us allowed us not only to showcase our individual skills but also to create a genuine collective showcase of our work together. The article delves into the essence of our collaboration and the significance it holds in building meaningful partnerships.

The unique pieces from the Eldridge collection not only elevated the overall look but also added a one-of-a-kind touch. Adonis’s masterful eye captured the precise image and aesthetic I was aiming for, bringing the vision to life in a way that exceeded expectations.

Paying homage to my rocker days with my band, Chiara’s Halo, and embracing my roots in public relations and the PR movement, Seth skillfully styled comprehensive looks that captured the diverse facets of my personality. His styling not only encapsulated my array of personalities but also reflected my ability to seamlessly blend the professional with the day-to-day. It’s a representation of how my career is intertwined with my life, creating a harmonious reflection of both.

My writing is characterized by its honesty and transparency, offering a blend of professionalism along with genuine, authentic, and vulnerable feelings. Whether I’m diving into film reviews, sharing media insights, or analyzing music, my coverage spans a wide spectrum.

Affectionately known as the “People’s Carrie Bradshaw,” my looks aim to capture that vibe. And let’s talk about that to-die-for knitwear — the original scarf/necklace/long sleeve? Hand-knit by Seth for the shoot, it serves as both a nostalgic callback and a high-fashion rendition of the original Gut Instinct promotional shoot outfit.

Get ready to experience Gut Instinct like never before, where sophistication meets versatility in every piece of content we deliver.
