Coachella Country Chic vs. Stagecoach Cowgirls: Who’s Owning the Western Trend?

Over the years, Coachella has changed a lot. Back when the festival was smaller, social media and influencers weren’t as big of a thing, and the fashion was all about embracing that desert, bohemian vibe. In 2010, it was more about dressing comfortably while still expressing your style, all while catching your favorite artists in one place.
Fast forward to now, and Coachella feels more like a fashion show. It’s full of brand ambassadors, influencers, and people trying to keep up with whatever’s trending. The original Coachella style started out as super boho, but now it’s shifting into something new: Country Chic. And while it’s definitely trendy and cute, it’s starting to look a lot like another big festival that hits the same desert right after Coachella — Stagecoach.

With cowboy boots, hats, and bandanas everywhere, it’s hard not to ask Who owns the Western trend — Coachella or Stagecoach?

Both festivals take place in the desert, so Coachella outfits, including boots and a hat, isn’t that out of pocket. But lately, all the new styles have been leaning hard into Western themes, and it’s making it difficult to tell the two festivals apart. A big reason for this shift? The Frankies Bikinis x Bella Hadid collab. Bella, who is basically a high-fashion farm girl, partnered with a Malibu-based bikini brand to create a collection that perfectly fits the desert vibe — and it works for both Coachella and Stagecoach.
This drop was honestly genius and perfectly timed, especially with everyone scrambling to put together last-minute festival outfits. But it also sped up the shift in Coachella style, turning it from boho to Western real quick. It almost feels like Coachella lost its own unique fashion identity. The flower crowns, crochet sets, lace details — all of that is kind of being replaced by whatever’s hot in the moment.

Anyone who's been paying attention to Coachella fashion knows Vanessa Hudgens basically was the Coachella style icon. Her outfits always felt perfectly in sync with what the festival was originally all about: free-spirited, earthy, and creative. Now? Everyone's trying to be the first to wear the newest brand collab or trend, and it shows.
Look, I’m not saying the current outfits aren’t cute—they totally are. I just think it’s worth pointing out how much Coachella and Stagecoach styles are starting to merge. With the festivals being so close together, people are trying to reuse pieces or go with what’s popular, and it’s kind of pushing the original Coachella aesthetic aside.

At the end of the day, though, fashion is all about personal expression. If you don’t have the newest trendy pieces or brand collabs, don’t stress. Festivals are about good vibes, good music, and having fun. So, whether you’re dressed as a desert cowgirl or a boho queen—just wear what makes you feel good.
